Motorized Roller Shades — MacDonald Highlands Living Room
A floor-to-ceiling living room with 14-foot wall of glass overlooking the Strip from a Dragonridge custom home. The homeowner wanted view-preserving solar control with one-touch operation tied to their smart-home.
The challenge
Glare on the TV, heat gain from the south-facing exposure, and a desire to preserve the iconic Strip view at all times. Manual operation was not practical at that height.
What we installed
Six motorized roller shades in 5% openness solar fabric, dropping from a single recessed pocket above the windows. Wired to a Lutron hub so the homeowner can program 'morning,' 'afternoon glare,' and 'movie night' scenes via their existing smart-home system.
The outcome
The view stays visible behind the shades at all times. Glare is gone. The HVAC unit cycles less often on south-facing days. The homeowner can trigger all six shades from voice control or their phone.
